Takahe Sound Bird 15cm

This adorable 15cm soft touch plush Takahe, has a real Takahe sound. The Takahe are a flightless bird, indigenous to New Zealand. Previously thought to be extinct they were rediscovered near Lake Te Anau in 1948 and have since been the focus of a breeding and protection effort. They are large, stocky birds, up to 63 cm tall, weighing up to 2.7Kgs. They are noisy birds making sounds ranging from shrieks to a muted woomph when threatened. This bird is part of a collection by Antics featuring birds, reptiles and marine mammals from New Zealand and their sounds.
